We were drawn to it because most restaurants put big chunks of hard, white lettuce in it and I always have to further "prepare" my salad before I can eat it. We pick up a salad every time we have steaks and we get it every time we come to eat, however the last two salads have had a few pieces approximately six inches by one inch by one inch making it less appealing. Could this be improved upon? Thanks for your time and consideration.
Great place for friends. In short if you have a group of friends or a large crowd this is a great place to go eat. The service is good and the food is great served in a family style format
Family Value Good Food. The restaurant is purely gaudy to the point that it's fun and entertaining to be there. Reading the "Miss Buca" profiles on the walls are hilarious and seeing kids cover their eyes passing the peeing fountain is always funny. The waiters always seem on top of things and are very friendly, one was even so honest as to bring out a $20 accidentally dropped on the floor. While Buca's is a chain and food may be "processed", by no means does this mean the food is not tasty. Having been there many times I find the food delicious, and where else can you get a meatball bigger than your fist cooked to perfection? The salads are always fresh, the pasta heavy, the garlic kicking and the tiramisu to die for, everything you would expect in an Itallian restaurant. If you order the regular size be prepared to have enough for 3-4 people to eat, or a lot to bring home. Joining their e-club gets you great offers and a free dessert on your birthday month. Their Buca To Go curbside pick up is great, my sister has three children and seems to order from Buca's constantly. I gave it five stars because it's fun, the food is good, and the meals aren't overpriced. If you want to feel like your in your "fun but crazy" Itallian aunt's house, this is the place to go, and you're guaranteed to like it.
Get cozy with friends and family and enjoy an Italian feast at this loved-by-locals restaurant..
In Short
Homesick for your mother's Italian cooking? Grab your appetite and head to this restaurant, where the friendly wait staff will serve up portions of Colosseum-esque proportions, like spaghetti and meatballs loaded with savory tomato sauce and lots of pungent garlic. Dishes center on Southern Italian immigrant fare, and are meant to be shared family-style with a large goblet of wine-to enhance the taste, of course. The ornate décor with walls covered in vintage photos evokes a warm homey feel that welcomes customers to dine among the other families and loyal customers. Buon Appetito!
Menu change but still a good night!. The Minneapolis downtown Bucca was really crowded on Saturday night. We chose Bucca's to dine as we have always loved the tortellini along with the garlic mashed potatoes. Noting it was not on the menu, we asked our waitress and she stated she was very sorry and that she had head the complaint several times previously. She did go into the kitchen to see if they had any tortellini that could be cooked for us.(they didn't). Which means it could not have been long taken off menu. We ordered the checken fettucenine and it was very good and we were pleasantly full. But just so you know, it was NOT as good a tortellini!!! Please bring this item back to the menu if possible. Thank you for your website and keep running a great resturant!!
Gourmet price for pre-cooked food.. Bucca Di Beppo is yes, a chain, and thus not fresh, generally overdone, and premade. We ordered the gnocci w/ marinara and the chicken marsala. The gnocci was decent, but slightly overcooked, and the sauce was fairly tasty, but the chicken marsala was not good. When the Chicken marsala came to the table it smelled like somebody had poured maple syrup over the chicken instead of marsala wine, and tasted like a sweet and sour sauce that you would order from a chinese restaurant. The food is all served family style, with family size prices, which means nobody really gets what he or she wants, and everyone still pays as though he had his own personal chef. Yet, I would recommend this restaurant to large families with lots of kids, since they can share, and kids are used to not having much say in what they eat.
Food excellent, family style meals bad.. The food is absolutely wonderful. The place is always packed, which is a good sign. However, there is no option for individuals to order single portion meals. Everything is family-style (feeds a minimum of 2-3 people). I won't be eating there alone, because I will have to pay for a meal that feeds 2-3 people. If you order chicken parmesan and want spaghetti with that, then you are going to have to order the spaghetti separately and pay for it. The prices are steep, but again the food is wonderful. I found the children's menu to be very good and at a good price.
Ciao!.
Great food and LOTS of it-we went as a party of 9 and (2 families) and brought home enough leftovers for another meal to feed all!!
The atmosphere is very cool-lots of interesting pictures, etc.
Highly recommended!
different. I think bucca di peppo is a nice experience for some place different. the quantity is definitely there but I think there are a lot of better Italian resturants in the area. I agree verdiles is very good and very popular.
BEST RESTUARAUNT I'VE EVER BEEN TO!. The atmoshpere was wonderful, the food was awesome! The waitstaff was so personable and fun! Especially when it came to my mom's birthday! It was a real Italian family restaurant and made the whole restuarant like a big party! I had a wonderful time!
