AMAZING STORE. I came across this poor review of Lily I would like to make a rebuttal about their customer service. I heard about their sample sale on the radio so I decided I would go for my wedding gown. Growing up in Saratoga I always would drive by the beautiful wedding store in Franklin Square, never thinking I would actually afford to purchase a dress there. I had already been to David's where I received the worst customer service one could imagine, basically I felt that I was in a meat market. When I showed up to Lily's that Sunday morning, I had expected the dresses to be picked over because it started Saturday, I also expected to be rushed. This was not the experience that I had. I was treated like I was paying full price for the wedding dress, even though they were severely marked down. I had my own consultant making me feel so very special. I ended up with a beautiful gown for my wedding day, a designer gown at a quarter of the price. I would recommend Lilys for any bride getting married!
Please let us know.
As one of the owners of Lily~Saratoga we take your review very seriously. These reviews help us to improve our business. We ask that customers just let us know if they have an issue - this gives us an opportunity to make things right.
We always order bridesmaid dresses according to the designers size charts and never want this type of headache for anyone. Our intentions are always to get the perfect fit and we review sizing with all our customers and ask them to sign off on that size before we order. Bridesmaids dresses typcially run 2 sizes too small and generally only have B cups in them. These are just a few things we must take into account when ordering.
Go somewhere else for bridesmaid dresses!.
I recently had the unfortunate experience of having to purchase a bridesmaids dress through Lily of Saratoga for an upcoming wedding I will be in this fall. We went with the bride to try on our dresses this past winter. At that time I was measured by a staff member. They ordered my dress and shipped it to my home since I live out of state. When I went to try on the dress it was obviously way too small and was not able to zipped up. I had not gained any weight since my initial measurements and was puzzled as to why the dress wouldn't fit. I now have to take it for alterations where it will cost an additional $65 dollars.
Of note there were at least 3 other ladies in the bridal party who will have to have alterations done. I would recommended going to other establishments to get your bridesmaid dress. I never thought I would say this but I would recommend going to David's Bridal. I recently had to get a bridesmaid dress through there for another wedding and was very happy with the experience and the fact that they had all sizes available to try on.
The BEST place to buy your dress!!!!!!!!.
Even though I got married over a year ago I stumbled upon these reviews and have to come to the defense of Lily Saratoga because this is where you want to buy your dress locally!!! The service I received there from the minute I walked in to the day I picked up my dress was nothing short of superior! It was by mere coincidence I walked into this beautiful shop one Saturday. My mother had bought both her mother of the groom dresses at Lily and wanted to stop in and take a peek while we were up in Saratoga one day for a dress for my wedding. So I started browsing and immediately fell in love with so many beautiful and unique dresses. I did not have an appointment to try on any dresses, but they were able to squeeze me in for later in the day (this was a Saturday during August so they were very busy). As we were making the appointment I saw some sample pictures of dresses on the counter. There was one that I caught my eye and they said it wasn’t out on the floor yet as it had just come in the day before but they would be more than happy to go get it for me. So they brought it upstairs for me to try on when I came back, and that was the dress I ended up buying! They never pressured me into anything, and actually encouraged me to look around before I made my final decision. Everyone I worked with there was professional, supportive and very passionate about making a bride look her best! You CANNOT go wrong by buying your dress at Lily. I would recommend them to anyone!!!! Please disregard the negative reviews on this site and go see for yourself....I promise you will not be disappointed!!!!!!!!! Thank you Lily for everything you did for my special day.
The Best of the Best. I am not sure where the first two brides are referring to, but it certainly is not Lily Saratoga. I have been to this shop on several occasions and I have experienced nothing but kindness and helpfulness from the employees, especially the owners! I am quite outraged that comments would even be posted like these because these women (the owners) are warmhearted, caring, and affectionate individuals. All employees of Lily Saratoga go above and beyond any brides expectations, which should make any bride convinced to make Lily Saratoga their FIRST and ONLY stop for their dream wedding dress. Not only do they have gorgeous dresses, but the staff is fantastic too! Lily Saratoga is the only place I would shop for a wedding dress because they carry the best.
Heart & Soul.
It is unfortunate that this "sister of the bride" below is distorting the truth about our shop and the work we do here. As one of the owners here, I am personally offended. We put our hearts and souls into this business and our reward is the happiness of our brides. Over the years we have gone out of our way for our customers even when it is not in our best interest to do so. Such is the case here when it would have been easier to reimburse this bride her small deposit than to be harrassed 3X daily for several weeks by her sister who would not "allow" us to speak with the bride directly.
This email fails to mention that the bride ordered her gown a mere 5 months before her wedding on Feb. 27th. The gown arrived in our shop on July 9th which is just over 4 months. She also failed to mention that we had the designer go out of his way to reproduce this gown after it had already been a discontinued style. We were in communication on a regular basis with the designer because we knew this was a special rush order and that it was coming from overseas.
There is also no mention that the gown arrived one month before the wedding and fit the bride beautifully and she was quite happy.
The only "real" problem here was an extremely rude sister who wanted to exert her need for power in this way. I am only sorry for two things - one, that this unfair bullying that began in our shop has made it's way on-line and two, that we went out of our way for this customer.
similar experience. i had a similar experience to bride0408. this is a beautiful shop, with beautiful gowns. i immediately wanted to buy a dress here when i walked into the shop. it's adorable compared to other shops in the capital district. i ended up finding a nicole miller dress that was on clearance - it was exactly what i was looking for, and when i tried it on, it fit me. i bought it on the spot. this was about a year before my wedding. they said they would store it for me until the wedding got closer, and then contact me to come in to have it fitted (it fit me well, but still needed to be shortened and taken in a bit, minor alterations). i called about 2 months before the wedding, they were very nonchalant, acting like i was a crazy person for wanting to come in and have my dress fitted. so i called a month before the wedding, they were still very wishy washy, but i insisted on coming in to have it fitted. they pinned me, we discussed adding a different clasp (all small things) and said it would be no problem. about a week before my wedding i still hadnt heard from them. you would think they would want you to come in and make sure everything was perfect, but they said, just come pick it up any time. i told them i would feel more comfortable trying the dress on before i left the shop with it (obviously) and they changed their tune. they called me the next day (it was a weekend wedding so we were leaving to go to the wedding thursday. this was wednesday) saying there must have been a misunderstanding and they didnt think any alterations needed to be done. i flipped out and went right there. they had no recollection of me coming in a month prior or any of the alterations we discussed. then they made it out as though i would be rushing their seamstress to have these alterations done in one day. my aunt is well known locally in the wedding industry, and put a call in. they changed their tune and started calling me apologizing. AND the dress was not ready when i went to my wedding thursday, my aunt had to pick it up blindly friday and bring it. then they had the nerve to charge me almost $400 for the alterations (shortening and slight tucks around the bust). this was a horrible experience and i would never wish these people on anyone for such an important event!
DON"T GO HERE!. I chose to get my dress from Lily's because of a great review: beautiful place, small enough that you won't just feel like an order number. While the place IS beautiful, the rest is just a facade. Through my experience I have learned the hard way that great reviews only indicate past performance, so please take a second for me to enlighten you as a potential dress shopper as to how things work at Lily's today. I picked out my dream dress at their boutique several months ahead of when I needed it. The people in the shop were helpful, and I was walking on clouds I was so happy I didn't even read the dress contract. I was talked out of expediting this dress because I was acting so far in advance (this is foreshadowing). I wish I could have bottled that feeling because I would need it for the rest of my dealings with this place. The first sign of trouble was a voicemail message in which the owner said, without remorse, that my dress would come in on a date 2 weeks before I left for my destination wedding. This new date was a solid month later then when I was originally told to expect the dress. No big deal right? Doesn't everyone have a live-in tailor on retainer? The owner had a lineup of excuses so practiced that she is either a lawyer or politician when she is not running that shop. She kept referring to the contract we signed for the purchase of the dress, making it obvious to me that she held the legal upper hand. This is much more important to her than serving her customers. After the calls to owner that I started to put together a picture that this was not the first time that this situation has occured. This shop operates on it's own schedule, and since they have no hard and fast dates of delivery on their contracts, you as the customer are along for the ride with your checkbook out. The only concession I could get was they would "check up" with the middle men between my dress and whatever shop in China it is coming from. They did check up but I had to call them to get any of the little bits of information they gathered. I had to continue to call them to spark any type of fire underneath them and if I didn't then I wouldn't have a dress at all. Basically, they forgot to order my dress but would not acknowledge any responsibility. Although to me, they payed for the dress to be "rushed" ( a few days earlier) at a later point after I made a fuss, which seems to me like an omission of guilt to me. Should YOU shop at Lily's? Gee, I don't know. Do you have the patience of a saint? Can you match their "I don't care" energy? If so, go ahead. I mean, it's only your wedding dress, right?
