Tough on the ears!.
Northern Lights gets excellent points for bringing a lot of varied music to our region. Always had easy ticket purchasing experiences by phone without overkill handling charges.
Huge problem is non-existent acoustics. Black painted steel ceilings and girders just don't cut it if your after a great musical experience listening to your favorite band Then if the sound guy is off the mark that night, earplugs or a spot near the doors is recommended.
I recognize the place might be a real challenge to an acoustics specialist, but it seems that option has been completely disregarded by Northern Lights management.
Then add to lousy acoustics an expensive bar experience - $6 (last time I went) cocktails in 10oz. plastic cups filled with ice. That equals four sips at best! All the friendly bar staff in the world can't make up for the hit your pocket takes if you want to drink!!
Bottom line, regular attendance is off my list. I will only
attend one of my "must see" shows when it's booked at Northern Lights. As an avid live music lover, I really hate feeling this way, but years of experiences at Northern Lights has cemented this attitude. Instead of opening up that extra room, you should have put the money into acoustical evaluation!

This hard-to-find pub has cool video games, eclectic live music and a friendly staff..
The Scene
Yes, it's kind of out in the middle of nowhere. And yes, it's in a strip mall, right next to a recreational vehicle warehouse. But Northern Lights does have its charms, which become apparent as soon as you enter the club's big central room. Northern Lights' friendly, competent staff works hard to prove that you don't have to be obnoxious to be a success in the music business.
The Draw
Dig the massive corner stage with its clean sight lines, then check out the decent pub-grub menu, pool tables, video games and excellent beer selections this midsize venue offers. Booking at Northern Lights is eclectic, alternating between jam sessions, folk artists, metal bands and alternative rockers in a typical month.
