I just love this place, despite the fact that its in my hometown so maybe im a bit partial but i have been to other orchards and this one is by far the nicest! Beautiful setting, awesome fruit, yummy goodies in the stores, and lots of family fun!
Yes it gets busy on weekends, and yes there are lines but you will get that anywhere you go.
Bowmans is the Best!!
Make the trip to another Orchard! – If I could give this place no stars I would. Don't go here it was the worst apple picking experience I have ever had. The people were rude and the orchard was a mess, dirty and disgusting. The apple's were nothing to brag about either- I wish I made the trip somewhere else!
Love Their Apples!!!!! – Bowman Orchards is a family tradition for me and my family... Love thier apples, and the freshly made donuts!! We have been going there for years now and it seems they have something new and exciting everyyear!! My kids just love the farm animals and their yummy homemade ice cream, not to mention all the fun stuff to play on.
It is evident the Bowmans are constantly working hard to improove the farm and the experiance their customers have there!!
We Just love it there and cant say enough about it... it does get busy on weekends but for us its well worth the wait!!
Amazing!!!! – I went to Bowman Orchards and they had awesome apples, awesome berries, awesome people, awesome donuts and other great things!!! We will be back you can count on that!!!
worst ever customer service. Don't go there. – Bowman orchard is the worst pick-ur-own place ever. The employee and owner are rude to their customers and they don't even let you taste the strawberries before you pick. We went to this Bowman orchard on Father's day and we have to pay $2 dollars per person as entrance fee (even a barely 2 years old have to pay this entrance fee). In the beginning, we want to taste a few strawberries before we pick. A few minutes later, one of the Bowman orchard employees and so called "owner" of that place came over and said very rudely "stop stealing our strawberries, don't act like a pig". Of course, I fought back about their rudeness, the customers should not be treated this way. If you have any choice, don't go there, you will be very very disapponited, trust me on that and don't waste your money.
Bowman Orchards - Yet another one! – My daughter and I visited Bowman Orchards yesterday for a fun family outing of picking apples. They happily sold us a bag to place our apples in, but we could not find any apples on the designated trees? Not wanting to leave without any apples, my daughter picked the apples from the ground - not my idea of picking apples - more a case of sorting the rotten from the not so rotten. When leaving they wanted to search our trunk. (seemingly a standard practice) I refused, and all hell broke loose! (I very maturely shoved my apples out my car and told them to put it where it hurts!) I had 10 workers surrounding me, being hostile, yelling at me, calling me names (insulting me) and expanding/lying. I agreed that they call the police to sort this out, as I felt violated on so many levels. The police never did show - my guess is they get many of these calls from Bowman and blow it off?
Due to time restrains on my end I reluctantly let them search my car and paid for the bruised apples.
They claim there are signs informing us that this is their practice the sign reads: " All produce must be declared before entering"
No really the day out I had planned. I reluctantly give them even one star. If you do choose to visit them - I hope your experience is better than mine.
Jonagold – My favorite place to visit. I highly recommend it to all ages.. Nice people great apples and fantastic cider donuts and warm apple cider.. No comparison anywhere
I went to Bowman Orchard on Saturday along with visiting relatives from NYC. My guests enjoyed apple picking so much that they decided that they would visit again soon. However, we were very disappointed and felt humiliated at the check out. They not only searched our vehicles trunk, but probed underneath our seats for supposedly stolen apples!! They were rude when we told them that they cannot go through our personal items. The staff is very racist!!! Please anyone considering going there should think twice. If you don't mind being treated like a possible suspect , and being humiliated then this is the place to be!!
I'd go back – I went on a Sunday in mid October, around 11 am. It was a beautiful fall day and I anticipated a big crowd, especially from the articles and reviews I've read, but I actually thought they were closed. As we drove up and parked we did find some more people out picking apples, but it wasn't overly crowded. It was fun to be armed with a map, a list of apples that we can choose from for that day and go walk around. People were also driving around, but I didn't find that necessary. I did think the wait was pretty long to check out. There were only two cars ahead of us and waited about 20 minutes. I was surprised that our car was checked. I forgot that I had camping gear in the back and they took it out and rummaged through it. I wished they had warned me before hand or even mentioned it before they started doing it, but they just went ahead and started going through my stuff. I can see how that would tick off a lot of people. We went into the shop afterwards and the icecream was delicious. I highly recommend the pumpkin icecream. I got a small cone and told the cashier what I purchased, but she still charged me for a large one. I should've realized it when she gave me attitude when I asked for my receipt, but I didn't realize it till I got home. The lady making the carmel apples (yes, they make yummy carmel apples right there) and the icecream girl were super friendly and nice. I thought it was a nice orchard to go to, but for apple picking I may do the farther drive and go to Goold, only b/c they're smaller and you're not subject to an invasion of privacy. However, for my pumpkin icecream, I'm definitely going to Bowman.
Another bad one for Bowman – I, too, had a bad experience at Bowman, as many have reported. It took a 1/2 hour to get in due to the crowds on this particular beautiful Fall Sunday. It is not their fault that it is crowded and they are doing a good business. However, by this time, they should anticapte this and have a more efficient way of entering and exiting with large numbers such as these. They should have many more employees on the weekends to help. On the way out, they young gal who said she was one of the owners, was downright rude to me. She had a very bad attitude. Her customer service skills were horrendous. We did not even want to go to the store after having such a bad experience.
