In Short
Original owner chose to hang "Ladies' Entrance" sign over the restaurant door when he first opened, hoping to attract female customers. Now, locals and tourists seeking a historical experience, seat themselves in a dining room occasionally filled with Irish tunes coming from the bar next door. A different entree is featured every night, favorites including the Yankee pot roast dripping with gravy, corned beef and cabbage, baked ham and onion chips.

This place has been here forever. Step in and iit's like going back in time. There is still the remnants of a ladies enterance. Great food, hugh portions at very reasonable prices. Doesn't look like much from the outside - you need to go in.

The south end tavern is a historical site with the original ladies enterance sign still hanging outside of the dining area. It is a local favorite with great food. Have been told that the corn beef is corned on site and that is what makes it so good. It was also named best fries in the area from what I can remember a while back. It has a kids menu as well as great varierty of choices. The prices haven't been changed in ages so you can stillget a cheap meal. My favorite part is that the kitchen is behind the bar so you can watch your food being cooked so there is no funny business. Drinks are also really cheap. I would reccomend it to anyone that asked.

This is a hole in the wall restaurant and it seems like a local favourite. For Friday's dinner the place was pretty packed with middle age trojans, 40's - 50's. Service sucked. The table was not bused before we sat and the waiter made no effort to do so. After sitting and ordering we waited 30+ minutes for our food, during which time others were served or a bit more annoyingly provided with bread as they waited. When the food finally arrived, we had to wait 15 more minutes for the gravy to adjoin the mashed potatoes. And it was cold by then. I am not sure why our service was poor, but we didn't match the typical clientele and our school has a somewhat adversarial relationship with the city. My cohorts think it was a friday evening issue. Fries were okay, greasy homemade fries. The burgers were uneven, we each ordered medium well one was dry and other leaked 'bload'. The flavoured horseradish burgers were a bloody disappointment. The buffalo sandwich was enjoyed and recommended. And the mash potatoes were apparently instant, with cold gravy - took too long to reach the table. My friends suggest going back when there is less of a crowd, I'll pass.
