Best Burger in Troy!. This is my favorite place to celebrate a triumph or drown a defeat. Enjoy tasty beers, the very best burgers, hot fries, spicy wings... or the comfort of a hot open-faced turkey sandwich with real mashed potatoes, homemade gravy, and cranberry sauce. It has a neighborhood feel and appeal. The ladies' room could use some updating, but the building has character. I have heard that the desserts are all homemade, but I'm always too full to try one. They're closed on Mondays, and if you want to eat quickly you'll want to get in before the drinking crowd on Thurs, Fri and Sat. Enjoy the bar ambiance... the only thing that's really changed in 15 years is the smoking ban!
stay away. dirty beer linrs over priced sandwhich got hardly no cornbeef on it paid 7.00$ for bread and 3.00$ for fries that was a small portion i,m not a kid just not happy so stay away don,t waste your money
The quintessential neighborhood pub in Troy, Albany's hardscrabble doppelganger city across the big muddy Hudson River..
The Scene:
The Ale House is a classic corner bar, sort of the drinker's equivalent to Willie Wonka's Chocolate Factory in that it seems bigger inside than it looks outside, and the wonders never stop once you penetrate its portal. The front bar is cozy and intimate, the sort of place where you can visualize the charmingly blue-collar locals hanging out yesterday, today, tomorrow, forever. The back room, however, is the real prize, all formica tables, tile and chrome with the best assortment of pub grub available in the Capital region. There's live music, too, on most Saturday nights (and some Fridays as well), right there in the dining area, after you help the bands and the staff pull the tables and chairs out of the way. Intimate is an understatement, but wonderful is not.
Must-Have Drinks:
Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, Paulaner Hefe-Weissen (a German wheat beer).
Heaven On Earth. This place is THE best place for Wings and beer. The German Wheat Beer (Paulaner) that they serve is out of this world - its like seeing the Lord before your eyes. I studied in RPI and I have many fond memories getting drunk with friends in the Ale House. I would strongly recommend this place to any beer lover.
Troys cheers.
For the past 20 years the number 1 spot in troy for burgers, wings and hot sandwiches.
