Unique menu and an overall great experience. While in the area for the Saratoga races, I happened upon this restaurant. Reminded me of both the English and Irish Pubs I visited over the years in Europe with friendly and courteous staff. From the very unique menu I choose Nannies Chicken and Biscuits, three cheers to nanny and the chef, it was not only delicious but the serving size was more than I could finish. My partner, who proclaims to be a burger aficionado, had "the best burger in town" and wholeheartedly agreed. I chose the Cider on tap, which was surprisingly delicious and my partner had a hard time narrowing down a choice, but went with Blue Point Hoptical Illusion and was not disappointed. We will definitely return to Holmes and Watson during the 2009 Meet.

Great atmossphere, beer , wings, onion chips/ and horseradish dipping sauce EVER!. Very cozy and a little creaky, you really feel like this is what Old Troy was like. The food is really good -- the portions are huge and so far everything I have had has been great (salads, sandwiches, steak, fish, pasta...) You have to wait a little for your meals because they make everything fresh/to order. Kid friendly but still a great experience for adults. If you are looking for a place to meet friends after work on a weekend night, this is a great place to go. Mixed drinks and a huge selection of beer (that is always changing too) Everyone feels right at home - at least we did!

Very rude management. This place has great food and beer. I enjoyed it several times. Until the time I was evicted by the manager. This is what happened:

We ordered food and it took a while... (they were short-staffed, understandable).

I asked one of the staff, smiling, "Don't forget about my salad, eh?"

She responded coldly, "I'm not your waitress".

Some while after that, our waitress came by and explained it would be served with dinner.

After that, the manager came by and told me, "First of all, get your feet off the chair, this is a public place. Second of all, the next time you harass my staff, you are done."

I followed him to discuss it and he evicted my party.

????????????????

Will never return.

Editorial Review. This Troy spot has been a fixture since the 19th century, serving up hand-cut steaks to the customer's specification.

A Real Classic. The beer selection cannot be beaten. They rotate draft microbrews on a weekly basis and have several bottles of foreign beer. In addition the food is both great in quality and size. If this wasn't enough the atmosphere is wonderful both inside and on the serene back patio. Troy should be proud to have them!
