With a historic building and a resident ghost, this inn has everything a premier eatery needs--except consistency..
The Scene
Constructed in 1760, the Old Daley building has also housed a tinware shop and a bordello. The historic premises even have a resident ghost, a man murdered in a "lady's" room. These days, families with children in Sunday finery and casual RPI students with visiting parents dine around the linen-clothed tables. Service at dinner can be slow as the waitstaff negotiates between the two levels.
The Food
Once one of the places to eat in the Capital District, the venerable Old Daley Inn now suffers from inconsistency in both service and food. Burned baked potatoes? Filet steaks arrived cold but charred. Steaks and seafood are the Daley's stock in trade, but aren't the best to be had. Stick with the chicken teriyaki. Don't overlook the potato salad and coleslaw at the salad bar.
