Rude conduct – On Wed April 20 at approx 3:15 pm I was coming from a dentist appointment. Before that I had just worked a 8 hr day at my job so I was feeling a lil tired and wanted a quick dinner. I drove out of my way to Ted's in North Troy. I went inside to place my order to take home with me for my male mate and myself.
I am a collared sub, therefore I had on my leather collar that was placed around my neck by my male mate as a symbol of our relationship. I wear this collar everywhere but this is the first time ever I was made fun of because of it. I understand many do not understand the relationship between a submissive and her dominate. I am respected in my relationship, cherished, loved and feel safe. Not understanding is no reason to treat anyone the way I was treated that day. The women behind the counter openly laughed aloud at me, made comments aloud and mentioned me to others behind the counter as well as another woman also made a point to come and look at me. I stood there feeling very uncomfortable and hurt. I paid for my order, stood there quietly feeling more uneasy as the time passed and collected my order when it was brought to me. I did make a comment to the woman who waited on me ( who I will also say she did not contribute to the rude behavior of her co workers) I replied as she handed me my order " tell the girls I am happy to have been able to amuse them".
I was polite, I was quiet and did not make a scene. Upon coming home my male mate saw I was upset and encouraged me to write this review. I will not ever go into that Ted's again even if I was starving that the food was free.
I want to mention here that I have many times been to the Ted's on Hoosick Street and was never made fun of or left there feeling uneasy. They have always treated me with respect and politely. To them I say Thank you, I will be back.
Best FishFry anywhere! – I go to Ted's everytime we want a chnage from the big chains(usually a few times a month). And for you people that don't understand what a quality fishfry is like and how hard there are to come by, then keep on driving by! Those of us who love a capital district treat will continue to pull in when we drive near for the tasty fishfry and the most awesome onion rings ever!!!!! Ted's rocks ...keep up the great work guys!
worst dining experiance in a long time – teds fish fry troy ny
my experience at teds fish fry started when the cook mistakenly cooked the wrong items then proceeded to hand me a cheeseburger that looked like it had been smashed into a pancake, i also ordered a fish fry that looked and smelled awfull, the fish was absolutetly second rate . to top this all off one of the staff gave me a dirty look when i took extra napkins. It should be noted that they squirted catsup all over my french fries as they are too frugal to give individual packets. in my opinion you should keep on driving as you pass them on RT. 7 IN troy, ny
AMAZING Fish Fry and Fast Food Experience – The outside of Ted's Fish Fry looks pretty ordinary, as does the order counter that I first walk up to to order my food. The place looks straight out of the 70s, as the cashier yells our order back to the cooks. We wait for a few minutes until our tray is delivered, and Boy, is it worth every second.
A typical orange tray holds our our three items: "Fish Fry w/ Chilis", "Chessburger w/ Everything", and "Regular Fries". I am surprised at the careful placement of each item on the tray. The three items are placed evenly in thirds, across the horizontal position of the tray. A thought crosses my mind concerning the simple aesthetic of these items, the absence of cartoon characters or graphic advertisement on the tray.
We sit down at our table. I look down at the 15" Fish Fry loaded with "Chilis" (That's what the cashier yelled out) and the order of fries w/ ketchup already poured at the top, with a simple fork jetting from the top. My fiance grew up in Lansingburgh, the first bite of her Cheeseburger w/ Everything excites her. "Everything" means Onions, Pickles, Ketchup, and Mustard at this place. The Onions are carmelized extremely well. I took a bite of that burger and want to go back and order one for myself. I am a bit surprised "Chilis" means Cocktail Sauce here and a tad disappointed my Fish Fry doesn't have an extra kick to it. Overall, the Fish Fry that was presented to me has amazing texture and taste.
The place was virtually empty, only three other customers on a Sunday around 4:00pm. Ted's Fish Fry is worth a visit if you enjoy old school American fast food. A huge step up from the Burger King down the street. Fish Fry is iconic around the Capital Region. I'd say Ted's over on Second Ave. is so far my best experience with Fish Fry. The Burgers remind me of the ones Popeye's friend Wimpy used to eat. When you get to the counter, say "I'd gladly pay you next Tuesday for a hamburger today".
Best fish fry anywhere! – In a world of chain restaurants and 'homogenized' food, Ted's Fish Fry stands apart from the rest. It's still a family-run, yell-the-order-out type of place that happens to have the best authentic fish fries around. I instantly flash back to my childhood just entering the place. Ya gotta love Ted's!
