No flavor, worst mexican food

I'm from California and lived in Los Angeles for the past 4 years. I have been trying to find a decent Mexican restaurant out here, but so far I have failed. Garcia's chips didn't taste fresh, the salsa was too much like tomato sauce with no fresh tomatoes, onion, peppers, cilantro etc. in it. I ordered chicken flautas which had no flavor and were incredibly greasy and the beans tasted like they were from a can. Don't go there if you are looking for Mexican food, do go there if you like bland food with no flavor. (when I asked them about why the salsa has no flavor they said 'there's hot sauce on the table, people complain if we make it spicy'...If you don't like it spicy, don't go to a mexican restaurant!!!)
- Pros: Fast seating
- Cons: bland food that should not be called Mexican
Is It Really Mexican??

I eat a fair share of Mexican food here at home and was eager to try some new restaurants during a trip to Albany. Garcia's seemed to attract quite a crowd so my wife and I stopped in to give it a try. The food was, to myself (two way burrito), fairly bland and not at all as "Mexican" as I'm used to in PA. I commented to my wife that we are used to restaurants run by Mexicans and this one, apparently, is not or is of the "Tex-Mex" variety. In their defense I will state that my wife had a chimichanga which appeared to be baked rather than fried and she thought it was superb though, again, it also was rather bland. I will again state that the place was crowded so the locals must appreciate the food there and all I can conclude is that thoe people of Albany have never actually tasted good Mexican food.
- Pros: Ample parking, easy to get to.
- Cons: Food too bland to be Mexican.
Processed not handmade Mex

While it is a friendly place, the food is mediocre at best. Everything comes from a jar or a can--chips, salsa, tortilla shells, chiles--and it is not very tasty or spicy. The pork carnitas or chicken taco are pretty good, with quality meat, but bland. Skip the relleno--a greasy cheese ball. Margaritas are super sweet (syrup not fruit). The decor and kid-friendliness are the best features.
