Problem with Waitresses. We took our son & daughter-in-law and granddaughter out for a birthday dinner, as they were in town, visiting from out of State. Our daughter-in-law is quite a large person and the waitress was extremely rude and dismissive of her. First, she took everyone's order EXCEPT hers, and when called back she sighed heavily and grudgingly took her order. When the food was delivered, our daughter-in-law received the wrong order and had to wait an additional 15 minutes for the correct order, which was then only partially delivered. She had ordered some fresh buttered rolls which were not delivered. When we finally got the waitresses attention and requested the missing item, they were delivered almost 10 minutes later AND instead of giving them to our daughter-in-law who ordered them, the waitress handed them to our granddaughter and told her to enjoy!!! It was obvious the waitress had a bias against heavy people, and her work "ethic" was totally unprofessional, demeaning and spiteful. We left her NO tip. We have gone to Grandma's in years past and enjoyed the experience. Grandma's needs to seriously train or retrain its wait-staff, because they are ruining the dining experience for its customers.
Run from Grandma's. Went to Grandma's in Albany with 2 girlfriends. I ordered cream to turkey soup and a chicken salad sandwich. Cream of tukey soup was good but the sandwich was not worth the price. Wheat bread was stale and they were very skimpy with th chicken salad. The waitress never came around to ask if we needed refills. I thought this place was suppose to be known for their pies. Well they are but not for the reason you might think. I ordered a swiss chococale almond that according to the description... mounds of whipped cream with shaved chocolate. What I actually received was a small triangle of mocha colored pudding, a white layer of topping and what looked like pepper on the topping. The pepper was the shaved chocolate and the pie crust was uncooked. They charged almost $5 for the pie. I have tasted better baby food. This place needs Chef Ramsey. All in all bad food at high prices.
Not The High Point of My Trip to Albany. Spending four days in Albany we drove by the sign for Grandmas and decided that you can't get any better than a place named Grandmas so we eagerly stopped for dinner. I guess my first mistake was ordering one of the specials, lasagna, since it wasn't an Italian restaurant. The salad and the turkey cream soup were palatable but the lasagna arrived warm around the edges and stone cold inside. Not a very tasty treat. The waitress seemed to disappear and never returned to ask how things were or whether we wanted refills of our drinks. My wife had quiche which was acceptable but not really too much so. My daughter had spaghetti and, again, this wasn't an Italian place and we should have taken that into consideration. At any rate, I've had much better food other places and if and when I return to Albany, I won't be eating at Grandmas.
Granmda's is GREAT. I've been to grandma's quite a few times and always rave about their food. Especially the chocolate milkshakes and REAL mashed potatoes with homemade gravy! YUM
Grandma's was never like this!. You have got to try their breakfast sausage, the best the greatest! The make a mean pie. The variety can't be beat. The service is always top notch. No matter the season, Grandma's is always decorated with taste.
