New England-based chain serves affordable diner food and ice cream treats in a homey, family-friendly atmosphere..
In Short
Friendly's opened its first location in 1935, and thanks to red vinyl booths and an old-time vibe, many of its 500-plus locations still feel rooted in that era. While nobody's ever mistook Friendly's signature ice cream for Ben & Jerry's, the restaurant does deserve acclaim for its Fribbles (extra-thick frappes) and inexpensive sundaes. Straightforward breakfast platters are served in the mornings only, while standard diner fare (tuna melts, beef burgers) is offered day and night.

Find somewhere else to eat.
I was on my lunch break with 2 other co-workers (1 hour), so we went to this location. We were seated promptly and that's where the promptness ended. The waitress took forever to even come get our drink orders. Everone's food was terrible and cold (I got sick later from it). We did say something to the waitress about it- We got a half-hearted apology and an excuse that they were very busy. I looked around the restaurant and it was dead-there were maybe 3 other tables that were seated with another waitress working with her. Needless to say we were late getting back to work-They didn't even take anything off of my bill. so I'm not really downing Friendly's as a franchise-I'v been to other locations with my family (East Greenbush) where we've had a wonderful experience, but this one I would definitely recommend to find some where else to eat.
