Great Place--Thursday's During Summer After Live @ 5. Great place to enjoy a drink and listen to music after Albany's Live at Five. Though you can spend your time inside, it is a great scene outside to enjoy a nice summer night.
No the same since Tess Collins took over. Last night, 4 of us decided to go to Mcgeary’s for dinner and reminisce about our younger years of going every week. There is no happy hour crowd and the temperament of the staff has changed. There was a younger heavy tattooed witness who followed the lead of Tess (who is later claims to be the owner) in giving horrific customer service. Tess brought out the food to our table and I asked for a napkin and she said I was high maintance. She turned and walked to the kitchen giving me two middle fingers behind her back. When we were finished eating, I told the waitress that your co-worker is being a crotch and I must have done something to offend her. The waitress goes back to tell Tess. Tess said I didn’t until confronted her about her actions. She then throws us out of the bar. I am 43 and have been thrown out of a bar in my life. Unless you like fair at best food and a rude staff, this is not the place!!
Albany's favorite Irish Pub packs in daily crowds with live music, free-flowing booze and a friendly staff..
The Scene
Huge crowds constantly jam this popular watering hole at the north end of the Pearl Street business district. Why so popular? The folks at this narrow-spaced Irish pub don't do anything particularly fancy or original, but what they do, they do right. That means beer and plenty of it, live music and a full menu reaching beyond pub grub. There's always a good mix of college kids, young professionals and local folk bumping elbows in the evening.
The Booze
There's over 30 beers on tap with Bass, Guiness and McEwans India Pale Ale in the mix. Not enough of a selection? Try one of the 45 bottled domestics and imports.
While You're There
There's live music each week often leaning towards the Irish and Celtic end of the musical spectrum, but local and national blues, boogie and rock acts play as well.
redneck yuppies. i gave this place three different chances, patrons are self absorbed no-nothing wanna be's, bar tenders-too busy trying to pick up the local barflys, the worst bar in albany
Celtic High. Great music, Great Beer, Great Crowds What else can be said?
