Mediocre food for Gourmet Prices.
We checked out Debbie's kitchen for a late lunch on a Saturday afternoon. It wasn't a light lunch at all, in fact, all it did was make our wallets a lot lighter with OK food. When spending over $10 each to get a sandwich, side, and soda one would at least expect it to be outstanding. Unfortunately the quality of the food left us all feeling like we should have gone somewhere else. First of all, for a three cheese sandwich that shouldn't be three different single slices of cheese, it should be a stacked sandwich with at least two or three slices of each of the cheeses. Second, when putting mustard on a sandwich do not slather it on so thick that it can be scraped off by the spoonful. Third, a buffalo chicken wrap should be warm buffalo chicken. Fourth, you should offer a side with your sandwiches built into the price, not charge $3.50 for just a side of macaroni salad, even a handful of chips would have made met my expectations.
Next time we go out and want sandwiches we'll find a good deli or diner, even Subway would have been better than the food from Debbie's Kitchen. There are multiple other places to eat around Lark St that will give you much better quality food and much more for the price Debbie's Kitchen is charging.
If you're fine with mediocre food try Debbie's, otherwise I'd skip it.
Worth checking out.
I went here for lunch with a friend b/c we had heard good things. They were true!
The sandwiches were tasty and the soup offerings were intriguing. My friend and I both had the half sandwich / small cup of soup combo. The soups were quite good as well.
The sitting area is small and cramped, but we were able to find a place without much trouble. The blonde woman working (who I am pretty sure is Debbie) was very friendly and lively.
Overall, a great lunch option in the Madison/Lark area.
My favorite sandwich place in Albany.. Awsome large portions, their deserts rock!
Please clean the kitchen!. Every time I go in the sandwiches look great, but the kitchen makes me leave (twice)! The first time, the servers would cut the food right after taking orders and money from people. This was all right in front of the owner. Then the second time, the fans were blowing on open containers of food. Where is Health Inspection? Come on! All chefs know that cleanliness is the most important virtue of a kitchen, along with the food. Please, please clean up your kitchen!
Editorial Review by Emily Zietlow. Offers unique sandwiches made from ingredients including black-bean hummus, roasted garlic mayo and dill havarti, plus pies and brownies for dessert.
Debbie's is the best!. Debbie has the best selection of sandwich fixings-including vegetarian options. She has a knack for putting together unique combinations of her homemade food together in delicious ways. The prices are a little high, but well worth the best sandwich you'll ever have!
Yummy!. The combination of homemade food and unusual combinations make Debbie's one of the best sandwich places I've ever eaten at!
