Live music at Valentine's is something like Albany's weather: If you don't like it, wait an hour and it will change. Upstairs there's a club-style bar and downstairs is a neighborhood-flavored pub. Patrons should watch out for the steep central passageway, notorious for making roadies cry and barflies stumble. The smaller, lower-level floor space features darts, pool and a friendly orange tabby cat, while the second level is focused on music and bolstered by a sound system that makes hardcore, folk and pop all sound mighty swell.

The Draw
Valentine's barkeeps are some of the best around, slinging a full selection of imported and domestic suds, nearly 140 microbrews and various mixed drinks. Grolsch, Anchor Steam and Pike Place Pale Ale are perennial favorites.

Nightmares. I still have nightmares about going to Valentines and running into all of my old high school cronies (who, I'm sure, are still there). It's always crowded, but they do have good games. Upstairs, they feature local bands and some bigger names - good venue to see a band.

dope spot dope shows. First time there i had a blast and its an awesome place to see larger name ands and awesome locals downstairs!! gobhi rocks there!!!!!
