Average food, dicey neighborhood. Went to Ghandii at 6:00 PM on a Saturday night to try something other than Sitar. The initial problem was the numerous addicts/alcoholics roamihng the sidewalk outside the liquor store next door, which made my wife and kids nervous ( me, too). It's a small restaurant, fairly nice decor, but no table cloths. There were just a couple of other diners present.

The Nann and samosa were good, the chicken tikka masala okay, and the shrimp curry a bit gelatinous and bland. I would put the food at about the same quality as Sitar. Sitar has a much nicer ambience and a safe, suburban parking lot. Sitar is also much more expensive. Service was fine, though nothing special.

Best Restaurant in Albany. I have been going to Ghandi's for a few years now and it is always a lovely experience. The food is unparalelled (I have sampled other Indian restaurants in the area and they just aren't as good in my opinion). The people and service are wonderful. This has become my favorite restaurant.

Don't go here.... I've never had Indian food before, but... wow...

The service was abysmal. We showed up an hour before their posted closing time, and the host/waiter informed us that we'd need to be fast because they were closing in half an hour. When it came time to pay the bill he stood there and waited for us to pay. He also was almost entirely impossible to understand, but my date was fairly convinced that he was complaining that she didn't eat all of her food.

The food wasn't terribly good. The bread was... barely decent... and the highlight of the meal. The quality of their chicken was lower than the stuff you'd find in a fast food joint. I was decently pleased that the food at least had a decently strong spice to it, but that's what I've heard to be true of all Indian food.

I can eat anything. My date has had Indian food many times before without problem. We were both extremely ill after eating here. Unless the movie theater somehow gave us digestive problems, this is the only shared experience that could have triggered our... problems...

There are countless places in our area that are FAR better than this place. Don't waste an evening here.

Horrible delivery experience. I have been going to Gandhi for a few years and have never had any complains to make (although the food is a little on the greasy side.) Last week I TRIED to get food delivered...what a mistake! The person who *attempted* to deliver was inexcusably rude. Not only did he try to tell me that my house is in Guilderland (which, I assure you, it is in Albany), he then blamed me for the fact that he got lost. Did I mention that he was IMPOSSIBLE to understand? After quite literally twenty minutes of him picking a fight with me, he refused to make the delivery (all this is more than an hour after I placed the original order). I would be understanding of a late delivery or trouble finding the house, but his attitude was downright offensive and disrespectful. I will be sure to never patronize this restaurant again.
