Looking for charm, missed by a mile.. We're a family of four, and were looking for a non-chain diner lunch/breakfast spot. The hamburgers were touted as great, and the family owned aspect was a plus. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. The burger was good, but nothing special. The pancakes and french toast were average, but were served with small packages of processed syrup. The home fries were undercooked, and the toast is store-bought bread. By the way, be warned - they don't take credit cards, and it's a lucky thing we had some cash on us, which we rarely do these days. The hostess was surly, the tables were sticky, and the place is cramped. Save your money - a comperable meal at Cracker Barrell runs about 8 dollars less, and is much more enjoyable.

A Regular Favorite. We have breakfast at Oliver's Cafe a few times a month, the only reason we don't go more often is that we don't want to add more notches to our belts. Simple, freshly prepared foods in a friendly atmosphere, good prices. Stuffed French Toast, Eggs Benedict, and Corned Beef Hash are all a must. Bring cash as they do not take credit cards.

Where else would you go for burgers and French fries that are lovingly made from scratch?. The Scene
This unassuming building across the street from the Schenectady County airport has been a restaurant for 50 years and Oliver's Café for more than six of them. The grill and stove are visible as you enter. You can sit at the counter and study Warren Bush's egg-cracking technique or settle into one of the oversize tables in the dining area. It gets a little crowded when the college kids are around, but fight for a seat. It's worth it.

The Food
What makes breakfast and lunch different here is that all food is cooked from scratch. Warren's omelets are lovingly made, and real syrup covers the pancakes. Burgers like the kicky Cajun are pounded into shape before your eyes, and the cook will chop and fry a fresh potato for your French fries.

absolutely the best. Everything is fresh, home-made and the service is professional but very friendly.
