WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! – I have never been to a business like Thoughts & Best Wishes before. I am a bridesmaid in a wedding on June 25th and the bride requested we go to the bridal store and order our dresses from them.
I went last summer and ordered my dress. I walked into the store and it was about 100 degrees in there. the owner said that the air conditioner was broken and had me stand on a little vent behind the service desk while I waited for almost a half hour to order my dress. The owner took my measurements and insisted that she had to order a dress that was 4 sizes larger than what I normally wear!?!?!?! I completely disagreed and said that there is no way I needed a size 20 gown when I wear a size 14 with room to spare! She insisted that the gown runs small (4 sizes small?). She finally agreed to order a size 18 dress after I had to initial that I was ordering a smaller size then suggested. She then informed me that there is an additional charge for dresses over size 16!!! So ontop of not wanting to get a larger size dress, I had to pay a $25 fat charge!
I became pregnant in January and the store told the bride that when it comes time for alterations they will be able to sew in a corset back to make the dress larger to fit me for the wedding. My appointment was yesterday for the first alteration, I walked in again to about 110 degree heat and was escorted to a small fitting room to try on the dress and wait for 30 minutes. While waiting, the sweat started to drip down my leg and soak the dress. I, now being 5 months pregnant, started to feel shaky and dizzy from the heat. I decided that I needed to leave the store and not return. I walked up to the service desk and asked that I pay all my balances and stated that I will bring my dress to another bridal store for alterations. Not once was I offered a chair!!! I am pregnant and almsot about to pass out and the owner just sat there, staring at me.
I went to another bridal store today and had an alterations appointment. THE DRESS ALMOST FIT ME! I have gained 30 pounds since I ordered the dress and it almost fits me perfect. If I never got pregnant the dress would have fell to the floor as soon as I tried it on. And she wanted to order a size bigger!
I will NEVER EVER EVER recommend that place to anyone, not even my worst enemy. That place should be shut down!
Highly recommended!!! – I have to share the wonderful experience I had at Thoughts and Best Wishes.
I had stopped in several Bridal shops in the area and was made to feel like I was bothering the staff. The shops were a jumbled mess and very difficult to even try to find what I was looking for with no help from the employees.
Then I found Thoughts and Best Wishes.
From the second I came through the door until I left, I was treated like I was the only customer. Patty was so kind and helpful and never showed anything but patience and understanding. I am very fussy about what I want and Patty understood. She spent a lot of time with me and never got annoyed.
While I was waiting for Patty to prepare my order, I watched the other staff members interacting with customers. Everyone that came in was greeted with sincere smiles and how could they be helped. The shop has a friendly, personable and helpful staff. There are tons of styles to pick from and NO pressure is put on you to hurry up and pick something.
I thank Patty for helping me and making the whole experience so smooth and easy.
Without a doubt, I will be shopping at Thoughts and Best Wishes for any formal dress I need in the future!!
Simply put....they are the BEST!!!!
Excellent Experience – I am so suprised to be reading negative reviews about Thoughts and Best Wishes. I have been in the market for a fabulous, unique and all around perfect wedding gown for my big day for several months now. I've been to multiple salons, including the "upscale" Kleinfeld in NYC. Not one place even came CLOSE to giving me the experience I had at Thoughts and Best Wishes with Linda and her fabulous staff.
Seriously, I have been back several times to try on a dress that I thought was "the one." Linda put me in the dress as many times as I needed to, until I was sure. She never pressured me and she never, ever got annoyed or rushed me. I'm a petite person and all of the dresses needed to be clipped onto me to get the overall look. As it turns out, the dress I loved was several sizes too small and therefore made me uneasy as I could not "visualize" what it was going to look like in my size. Linda carefully explained everything to me and eased every worry I had without being overbearing or pushy. She is the nicest, most genuine woman I have worked with thus far in my wedding planning.
Also, I need to shoutout Lisa, one of the staffers at the store, she pulled at least 30 dresses and never got annoyed with my "oh no's" or "absolutely nots." I am so pleased with my experience there and I cannot thank them enough for their hard work and kind spirit. I've already booked my appointment for my bridesmaids to try on dresses there. I'm sure that experience will be equally as successful :)
Worst Experience Ever – I'm curious, are you people even talking about the same store I visited on Loudon Rd in Latham? Next to Night Moves (the strip joint)? This place gave me the worst experience I had in a dress shop. I left the store in tears.
I called a week before I was planning on going in to find out if they had the ONE dress I wanted to try on. I was told by the owner that she didn't have the same dress, but had one that was very similar by the same designer that I could try on and then I could order the other one if I wanted to. She told me that I didn't need an appointment (because I wanted to make one in case something came up). Fine. I told her I would be there the next week to try it on.
I got there and one of the staff led me into the "bridal area," which was full of at least three other brides running around with their dresses half-pinned and hogging the mirror and the pedestal. The staff member showed me the section I was looking for and told me to pull what I want and she’d get me a dressing room when I was ready. Um, ok, not even a little bit of help here?
We started looking through the rack for the dress I was expecting to find when the owner came over and told me that she sold the dress I was coming in to try on right off the rack, and she could bring it out and show it to me but she couldn't let me try it on. THIS is why I wanted to make an appointment, so she could call me and tell me if something happened and I wouldn't waste my time coming down!
I had found a dress that looked somewhat similar to what I was looking for and said I would try that one on instead. Then I wanted to know if she had a dress I had tried on previously at another store that I liked a lot, and just wanted to see it side-by-side with the one I had come in to try on. She didn't carry that line but started pulling a bunch of dresses I really didn't want to try on. I was overwhelmed so I just let her pull them, and she put me into a dressing room with three dresses I didn't want to try on instead of the one I had come in for, and left. My bridesmaid had to come in and help me into the dresses. And the dress I came in to try on was smaller than the other samples that had been pulled so I couldn’t even get it on. I gave up.
The owner and the rest of the staff gave most of their attention to the brides who were still trying things on and hogging the mirror. THIS is why you make APPOINTMENTS. I have never seen a bridal shop run this way. When I left, I left crying. What bride wants to feel like that on leaving a dress store? I certainly didn't deserve to feel like my business wasn't necessary, especially if they wanted me to drop more than $1000 in their store.
The owner was nice, but indifferent at best, and I had a better experience at DeAnna's Country Shoppe in West Sand Lake, where I was the only appointment, I had a full hour of Dianne's time, and was made to feel special. So that's where I chose to spend my money, and she will be getting my 6 bridesmaids' business too.
I COULDN'T HAVE HAD A BETTER EXPERIENCE!! – From the time my mother stepped through the door, the experience was nothing short of FABULOUS!!
I do not live in town, and my mother called me on my job, SCREAMING saying "OMG KRIS, YOUR DRESS IS SOMEWHERE IN THIS SHOP. I KNOW IT". So my response was iffy, because ever since I got engaged my Mom has been super excited and I was thinking, ok, she's probably just excited, so let me check this out for myself. When I walked in the door, I had no doubt my mother was ABSOLUTLEY CORRECT!! Everywhere I turned there was fabulous dress after fabulous dress.
Before I could get over the wide selection of gorgeous dresses, we were greeted by the owner of the shop, Linda, and her spectaculer team. Linda is the calmest, most sweetest woman, I could have ever dreamed of working with and she has the patience of a saint. She herself took the time out to talk to me and figure out what kind of bride I am and what it is I needed to be STUNNING on my wedding day. She showed me HERSELF the different selections without being pushy or forcing me to make a decision. I also worked with Beverly, who is a cloned version of my mother. She is sweet, helpful, honest, and just an overal AWESOME asset to Thoughts and Best Wishes. Every dress I wanted to try on, every question I had, she (like Linda) took the time to take care of me. We also worked with Linda's daughter Andrea. Who is a chip off the beautiful block. If Linda or Beverly were not available she had no problems and or issues helping me with the same wonderful courtesy as her mother. That was one of the things that REALLY impressed me. I didn't necessarily have to work with any particular person to be taken care of. They are all awesome, but these 3 ladies in particular became LITERALLY like family. I'm sure we looked weird to other brides when we came in because we ALWAYS greeted each other like family who we haven't seen in a couple of weeks, with hugs and happy screams ;-).
Now after the great dresses and the OUTSTANDING customer service, what they offer gets even better. I got just about EVERYTHING from Thoughts and Best Wishes. I got my invitations for my wedding AND bridal shower from them. Along with my money box. They have shoes, jewelery, save the date cards, just about EVERYTHING you need to make your day special.
And what tops it all off is that the prices are REMARKABLE. I live 15 min from NYC, and I had every intention of going to the city to get something different and unique. I consider myself a traditional bride, but my taste is very GAUDY. I needed something that will not only look extravagant coming down the isle, but to COMPLETLEY knock my fiance's socks off. And they hit the nail right on the head. I purchased a strapless dress, with tons of bling, and a 7 FOOT TRAIN, with veil to match the length for under $2,000.00. I mean SERIOUSLY, WHERE CAN YOU FIND A DEAL LIKE THAT! And also I saw a dress on the t.v. show Say yes to the Dress, that was $8,000.00 on the show and $1,500.00 in Linda's store. . . Now if that doesn't make you wanna run in that store, I don't know what you're thinking.
In conclusion, I am happy that my wedding is two weeks away, but sad that our working relationship will come to an end. But you know what, perhaps that may not be true, because if I EVER need a dress for ANY special occassion, or even if I just want to treat myself to a pretty dress for a date night with my husband to be, I will SURELY get it from Thoughts and Best Wishes. I can truly go on and on, but for the sake of anyone reading this I will stop ;-) But THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU Linda, Beverly, and Andrea. You guys are SUPER AWESOME and I TRULY could not have had a better experience. May God continue to bless your business.
Kristle - a VERY VERY HAPPY BRIDE;-)
Horrible service and disappointing results – I'm very disappointed to have to speak poorly about Thoughts and Best Wishes, especially after reading so many positive reviews.
I had called to schedule an appointment for 6 bridesmaids to try on dresses for an early-July wedding. Several of us were traveling in from out of town, so I wanted to make sure the trip was as productive and efficient as possible. The lady I spoke to on the phone was very pleasant and we agreed on a time in mid-February that would be convenient for them to help all 6 of us. Upon arriving for our appointment we found the store packed with prom dress shoppers and despite having made an appointment, we were unable to get any assistance. We understood it was busy, but had no help in our shopping process whatsoever. We picked everything out ourselves and even had to pin the dresses for fitting purposes without any help from the staff. Once we decided on the dress we even had to fill out our own paperwork. It was very disappointing.
To make matters worse, we had been quoted a ship date from the manufacturer for early April, which would allow plenty of time for alterations before July. When I called several weeks later to confirm the ship date I was told it was now early June. I expressed concern that a month before the wedding would leave little time for people to have alterations, especially since 4 of the bridesmaids live out of town. The lady said she would call the manufacturer and see if they could send them sooner. She called me right back and said they could ship in mid-May. I thanked for her help and planned to pick up my dress in late May when I was back in Albany for a visit.
Before my trip, I called to confirm that the dresses were in and was disappointed that again they were not scheduled to come until June; however, no one had called to tell me of the delay. Again, I expressed concern and frustration that things had not been taken care of. The lady I spoke with said the dresses could be shipped to the out-of-towners once they came in. I agreed that this was the only option. Once the dresses finally came in, however, they wanted to charge us $15 per dress to be shipped and wouldn't waive the shipping fee when I reminded them these dresses were originally supposed to be in 6 weeks prior. Two of the dresses that were shipped took several days to arrive. The girls that picked up their dresses locally and received alterations said they dresses were returned to them without having even been steamed.
All in all, I feel that Thoughts and Best Wishes had several opportunities to improve my experience, but failed miserably in terms of delivering a quality product and customer service. Based on my experience, I would recommend that you go elsewhere.
BEST Bridal Shop ever – I have been to many bridal shops through the years for Prom gowns and weddings for family. I have never met such caring, friendly people who make you feel like family. I felt like they really cared and treated me like my wedding was the most important thing in the world. Linda and Bev were Extraordinary! One dress was more beautiful than the other , but Linda picked out the perfect dress for me. I was so pleased with the dress selection and more importantly, their caring attention, that I did everything there; bridesmaids dresses, tuxedos and invitations. I have been to some shops that make you feel like you are doing them a favor and act very haughty. That is not the case at this shop. They are just wonderful and I can not sing their praises enough! I have sent all my friends their way!
must stop here first!!!!! – I was greeted when I walked in always a plus and the people that work there are so helpful. It's like being catered to. I have brought many friends of mine to thoughts and best wishes before going any where else. They all found dresses and were completely satisfied with the service. I as well have purchased a dress and I had great time with the girl it was a relaxing and fun experience. must stop here first before going any where else.
charming staff – Today I found my prom dress. Linda greeted my mom and me at the door and gave us a tour of the prom dresses. She explained what each section included, and the years of the dresses. She was friendly and welcoming. As I was trying on dresses, Meagan, a college student and employee was very attentive and could tell from my style, what other dress styles I would like. She gave me advice on this year's fashion trends and spent about two hours with me helping me decide between dresses. She brought her personal experiences into the discussion and included other employees opinions. All in all it was a very pleasant experience and I left with a great dress and feeling satisfied.
Highly recommend – I found a dress here for my bridesmaids that I absolutely loved, however, they had it somewhere else cheaper but I really wanted to do business with these people so they agreed to match the price for me! The employees were so amazing and so helpful. It seems to be a family business which I absolutely loved. Very accommodating and well run! HIGHLY recommend!
