Mari's is a staple to Schenectady after moving from it's previous location in Niskayuna. The sushi is gracefully prepared by a co-owner Jiro Omiya and is very fresh.
There is a plethora of dinner options as well as nightly specials and off the menu items (Just try the Eel(unagi)-Don.) In addition to the food, the dining here is benefited the knowledgeable and eager wait-staff and the frequent presence of the Omiya's at their establishment. I would happily recommend this place to anyone in the area.
They are now also open for lunch during the week, if you do decide to go this route, Mari herself is taking care of the kitchen and usually will make a trip out personally to check on her guests, and to sometimes supplement your meal with a taste of an experimental dish or snack! She's a wonderful and gracious host, I highly recommend the establishment and hope to hear of your own experiences.
- Pros: Wait staff is VERY helpful, Food is delicious, and owners on premises are a treat!
- Cons: Might be slightly pricy if you order by the piece of sushi. Go combonational plates for full meals, or for lunch, also remember to check specials.
