Don't Bother

Number one, they accept cash only. Number two, my boyfriend and I paid 20$ for two coffees, a breakfast sandwhich, and one waffle. The food was okay, but nothing special, and it took about half an hour to get to us, although the resturant was not even full. However, we recieved our bill about two minutes after ordering. The "authenticity" seemed like grungyness plus a premptive bad attitude. I appreciate old diners, but I would never go back to this one.
I would even go to a Cracker Barrel before going back to M.A.D.

Normally I love old school diners like this but the cook/owner is unbearable. I have had a number of bad experiences there, one where the cook literally forced my girlfriend to eat something she had never tried before and another time the food was literally frozen. There are plenty of better places in Albany to get breakfast. I would even go to Cracker Barrel before I went back to M.A.D.
- Pros: classic diner style
- Cons: cleanliness, menu selection, menu modifications are not allowed
Locals come to this bustling neighborhood joint for a great breakfast, even at lunchtime.

In Short
Located among the downtown warehouses, this historic diner was refurbished in 1986 when scenes for the film "Ironweed" were shot here. The tiny restaurant's counter stools and booths fill up fast. Miss Albany serves bangers and eggs, huevos rancheros, and the usual run of lunch sandwiches and burgers. French fries can be ordered to specification; use the oversize display models to choose your desired level of crispiness. There's a special brunch menu on weekends.

A must stop every time I'm in Albany. Great breakfast food and well worth the trip.

This place is a real jewel for those who treasure uniquely local eateries. I will certainly grant that it is not totally modern and operating room spotless, but to me this is part of it's charm. OK, so I might not want to eat off the floor, but I don't do that at home either!!
The variety of food available is 'way above your typical diner fare-- If all you order here is a "coke and a straw", you're missing a lot.
- Pros: Food, ambience, sense of history
